Arthur Del Thomas, age 69, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, Sat., December 2, 2000.

He was born September 13, 1931 in Murray, Utah to Arthur and Vida Thomas. He was the oldest of four children. He married Ann Kauka in the Hawaii LDS Temple September 14, 1953.Art served in the LDS Church wherever he and his family lived, and held many positions including bishop, temple officiator in Oakland, Calif., stake missionary, and Ward Mission leader. He especially enjoyed his last position as Gospel Essential teacher. A devoted and loving husband, son, father, grandfather and friend, Art loved his family and friends. He was a meticulous craftsman and loved fine music, and learning. He received a bachelor's degree at the University of Utah and masters degrees from the University of Washington and University of Calif., Riverside. He worked for thirty years at Lawrence Livermore Nuclear Laboratory, Livermore, Calif. Following retirement he worked for Vision International in Salt Lake City.

He is survived by his wife Ann, mother Vida Thomas, daughters Lani (Douglas) Anderson, Salt Lake City; Malia (J. Craig) Hale, Sandy; Deanna (Jeff) Lascano, Turlock, Calif., and sons Hoss (Stacey) Thomas, Phoenix, Arizona; and William (Melanie) Thomas, So. Jordan, and 21 grandchildren. He has a sister Lyle (George) Barton; and brothers Ross (Gayle) and Gordon, Salt Lake City. He will sorely be missed by all. His father and a granddaughter, Anna Stout, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Friday, December 8, 2000 in the Little Cottonwood 1st Ward Chapel, 6350 So. Rodeo Lane, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be at Memorial Estates, Mountain View, 3115 Bengal Blvd, Salt Lake City Thursday, December 7, 2000 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the chapel.
