Betty Gene Joseph Henderson, age 73, died Dec 5, 2000 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

She was born March 18, 1927 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of Dr. Reuben Albert Joseph and Maurine Bullock Joseph Sid-well. She lived in Panguitch, Utah until the age of 14. She then moved to Salt Lake City and grad-uated from East High School. She later graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Elemen-tary Education. On June 14, 1948, she married Ralph Kenneth Henderson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were married for 52 years and raised six children.

During her lifetime she served in many callings in the LDS Church, including Relief Society president. She earned the Golden Gleaner Award. She had many opportunities to teach both adults and children in the Church. She enjoyed serving a four-year Leadership Mission with her husband in the Liberty Stake.

Betty was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was proud of her pioneer heritage. She enjoyed her associations through the PTA where she served as President, and the Author's Club. She found joy travelling with her husband as well as searching out ghost towns in the intermountain area.

The family would like to thank supportive friends and relatives and those who assisted in her care. Mom will be missed very much but we have many fond memories to sustain us. We look forward to seeing her again.

She is survived by her husband; children, David (Annette) Henderson, James (Chris) Henderson, Paul (Maureen) Henderson, Michael (Connie) Henderson, John Henderson, and Susan (Yamil) Castillo; 16 grandchildren. Also survived by sisters, Irene Mitchell, Karen (Leland) Gygi, Ruth (James) Duke, Catherine Joseph; brother, Richard (Ruth) Sidwell; sister-in-law, Blanche Sidwell. Preceded in death by one brother, Robert Sidwell.

Services will be held at 12 noon Friday, December 8th, Parleys 6th Ward, 2350 South 2100 East. Friends may call Thursday, December 7th from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, or from 10:45-11:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you donate to a charity of your choice. Interment, Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
