New parents Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld may already be thinking about their daughter's education.

The comedian and his wife were co-chairmen of a benefit Tuesday in New York for PENCIL, a group dedicated to improving public schools. The event, sponsored by Arista Records, featured performances by Kenny G and Babyface.

"This is my way of helping New York City. I think the public school system is like the lungs of the city," Jerry Seinfeld said. "It's just important that it be vital and strong and keep up with the public schools."

When asked if his newborn daughter, Sascha, would attend public schools, Seinfeld said: "Well, she's a little young, so we don't know."
