The towers of the Evangelical and Roman Catholic churches of Liptovsky Mikulas are barely visible as the rest of the northern Slovak town is buried under heavy fog caused by a temperature inversion late Wednesday. Several days of the weather, causing warmer temperatures in the mountains than in the valleys, has resulted in a lack of snow at area ski resorts, which are scheduled to host the Women's FIS World Cup slaloms on Dec. 20, 21.
