The Uinta National Forest is encouraging winter recreationists to remember safety rules during the snowy months. To ensure safety:

Operate snowmobiles at a minimum speed near skiers, snowshoers and hikers.

Skiers, snowshoers and hikers should remember that snowmobile operators are generally not able to hear other approaching trail users.

Before you start, notify a responsible individual of your planned route of travel and time of departure and return. Check in when you return.

Snowmobilers are not permitted in the wilderness areas of the forest, so consult forest maps. Also contact the Avalanche Forecast Center, 378-4333 for avalanche conditions. Contact the Ranger district near you or the Forest Service offices in Provo at 377-5780.
