GRANTSVILLE — A young girl was killed here while crossing the street after leaving school Wednesday.
Killed was:
Abrianna Williams, 7, Grantsville.
Williams was crossing Main Street in a crosswalk away from the school zone about 3:10 p.m., Cpl. Steve Barrett said, when she was hit by a tow truck making a left-hand turn. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
There was a young boy on a bicycle in front of the victim who reportedly yelled at her to stop, Barrett said. The boy rode off after the accident and police have not been able to find him.
Traffic in the area around the school has grown over the past few years, Barrett said. He estimated the speed of the tow truck at 30 mph. Investigators hadn't decided Thursday whether charges would be filed against the driver.
