Pete Franco, age 88, died December 4, 2000 in Price.
He was born April 29, 1912 in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico to Antonio and Brijida Morales Franco. Married Manuelita Herrera, February 24, 1933 in Gallup, New Mexico. She died November 21, 1979.
Member Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he was a Knight of Columbus.
Retired member U.M.W.A. where he worked in various mines in the area for 39 years, and was a past vice-president of Kaiser Steel Local #9958. Former employee of the Green River Missile Range for 13 years as a propellant supervisor.
Pete was a manager for the local baseball league in Sunnyside, know as the Dodgers for many years.
Survived by his children, Mary Stella Bigbee, Buena Vista, CO., Pete Anthony Franco, East Carbon; Sylvia Marie Pacheco, Boise, ID; Cecilia Dean Martinez, Riverside, CA.; Dorothy Lucero, Gallup, NM.; Paul Roy Franco, Salt Lake City; Janet Clorice Campos, Gallup, NM; Darlene Romero, Price; brother and sisters, Ruben Gonzales, Gullup, NM; Carmen Franco, CA; Jessie Cota, CA; Aurora Espinosa, Ermina Santiago, Loretta Torres, all of Gallup, NM; Lupe Murnell, AZ; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents; son, Frank R. Franco; brothers, Tony Franco, Raymond Gonzales; and sister Mary Romero.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, December 9, 2000,
10 a.m. Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Vigil service Saturday 9:30 a.m. at the Church in East Carbon. Friends are welcome at Mitchell's daily from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Committal Service: Price City Cemetery.
