Mary Nelson Jensen, age 81, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000.

She was born Feb. 16, 1919 to Obed and Tina Nelson in Mt. Pleasant, UT.

She married Lamar C. Jensen in September of 1946 in Mt. Pleasant. He passed away Feb. 22, 1986.

Mary was a lifetime member of the LDS Church and served in the Primary as a pianist for many years. Mary was a very loving woman who loved to help others. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Mary graduated from North Sanpete High School, and afterwards she attended Brigham Young University, LDS Business College, where she learned Stenography, and Beauty School in Salt Lake City. She joined the Marines in 1943 and worked as a secretary for the Commanding General in San Francisco, CA.

She worked as a secretary for Geneva Steel and the Utah State Mental Hospital. Mary loved to read and was very well read and cultured.

Some of her interests were correspondence, nutrition, art, and literature. She had read all the books in the Mt. Pleasant Library at the age of sixteen. She especially loved Charles Dickens. She also enjoyed traveling, geography and

anthropology.

She was a source of constant hope to those that knew her.

She never stopped believing in the power of goodness. Her goodness and kindness illuminated the lives of all who knew her.

Throughout her life she never did anything unkind. She loved and was loved. She will go from strength to strength.

Mary Camille Jordan of Provo, Sherry (Vince) Simmons of Draper, Tina (Robert) Block of Los Gatos, CA, Scott Nelson Jensen of San Francisco, CA, Beverly York of Riverton; seven grandchildren and one great-grand-daughter; sister: Lucille Nelson Jensen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin brother, Leslie F. Nelson; and sister, Beverly Nelson.

Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant 4th Ward Chapel. Friends and family may call at the Church from 12:45-1:45 prior to the services.

Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by VFW Post 9276 of Mt. Pleasant. Services under the direction of Ursenbach Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
