Dad died too early. He was born in Germany in 1925. He survived World War II in the Russian POW camps, then survived melanoma and prostate cancer in his later years. He's overcome so many things, Dad should still be with us.
He came to New York City in 1951 and worked in the tool and die business. He also played profes-sional soccer with the German/Ameri-can Soccer Team. In 1958, he came to Salt Lake City and fell in love with the mountains, and the hunting and fishing.
Dad was a successful businessman. He created Tool Design & Engineering & Manufacturing. Twice during his career Dad was recognized as the Small Businessman of the Year for the Western United States. During his thirty years of running Tool Design, Dad had many loyal and dedicated employees. In his later years, he scaled back his involvement in the business in order to focus on his other passions, grandkids and fishing.
He was married to Ann from 1960-1987.
Dad was a loving and fun father and grandfather, and a friendly and kind
neighbor.
Survived by his children, Rick (Kari), Dorothy (Brad), and Trish, and five grandchildren. Also survived by his brother, Karl, and his sisters, Wilma and Maria in Germany, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. S. Temple, Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at 10 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
