On September 13, 1917, Kenneth LaMar Brems was born to Grantly L. Brems and Mabel Rushton. On December 5, 2000, Kenneth LaMar passed away, returning to the arms of his parents and loving wife.
LaMar grew up in the town of Magna and went to work at the Kennecott mills after graduating from Cyprus High School. He married Lois Smith, had two children and later divorced. On March 27, 1943, LaMar married June Clinger and together they raised a family. June passed away in 1997, after more than fifty years of marriage.
LaMar was an honest man with a strong work ethic. He instilled these values in his children by setting a good example. He took pride in his work at Kennecott, working his way up to supervisor and holding that position for over 30 years before retiring. His fellow workers nicknamed him "Speedy." In the mills it was known that if you wanted LaMar, just stand still for a minute and he'd be by.
LaMar was extremely proud of his sons and daughters. To him they were the proof of his worth. "Their love for us makes me want to live forever," he stated at his and June's 50th wedding anniversary.
He extended his pride to his gardening and even his dogs. A good mechanic, LaMar could repair most anything. He loved to fish and taught his sons the skill of using a fly rod. He will be deeply missed by family and friends.
LaMar is survived by his daughters: Karen (Steve) Matz, Nancy (Lionel) Key, and Diana (Stan) Andreason; sons: Kenneth (Cathy) Brems, Thomas Brems (Esther Morfin), Ted (Stacy) Brems, and Vance (Sharon) Smith; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mable (Marvin) Wallace, June Martin; brother: Earl (Mae) Brems.
LaMar, in this final good-bye, we your family offer you the one thing you can take with you on your journey: our love.
