The beloved Christmas classic "Miracle on 34th Street" has returned to the big screen as part of the Classic Movie Series at the Megaplex 17 at Jordan Commons.

Though it was remade twice (once as a television movie and once again in 1994), this 1947 fantasy still remains the best. It stars the late Natalie Wood as a young girl who believes the seemingly wild claims of a department store Santa Claus (Edmund Gwenn).

"Miracle on 34th Street," which runs through Dec. 14, is in black and white. It was made before ratings, though it would probably receive a G by today's standards.

The Classic Movie Series continues to spotlight older favorites. Others that have played in the series recently include "Gone With the Wind," "King of Kings" and "The Robe," which is also showing this week.
