The gentleman from Provo has voiced his opinion loud and clear. As a non-member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and resident of Salt Lake City, my opinion is it would not be proper or respectful to place the Olympic rings on a temple.
Rather, they should be on the City-County Building. Is there a reason Utah cannot be presented to the world as the beautiful state that it is? Can't we focus more on the beauty and grandeur of the mountains?
The 2002 Winter Games should represent the total community, not just the Mormon view. Utah has long been the joke around the country because of its backward attitudes. I admit that some of those attitudes are part of the reason we have a nice place to live. However, it has become such a control issue.
There is a happy medium that open minds could come to. Work on it. Please.
