It's one of the biggest recruiting classes Southern Utah University football coach C. Ray Gregory has had in his four years at SUU -- and the T-Birds hope the 2000 class of 15 players will push them over the top.

"This class is really going to help us," Gregory said. "They'll come in here and start setting the tone."The T-Birds dipped in the JC ranks to strengthen the defensive backfield in East Los Angeles CC's Brett Jordan, Nick Ervin and Ryan Thompson and Snow's Joel Bingham, while Dixie College's Turnbull Tuliaupupu (6-foot-3, 270) and Snow's Bud Bruening (6-1, 280) will be asked to fill the spot left by Division I-AA All-American, John Uriarte, on the offensive line.

"We're really lucky to get him," Gregory said of Tuliaupupu. "He has good size, and he's getting stronger. He's going to compete for one of the guard spots."

SUU has lived on strong defense and a solid option game that has made it one of the most prolific offenses in Div. I-AA.
