Utah's unemployment rate for January 2000 was 3.3 percent, the same figures seen in December and November 1999. "This indicator has been unusually stable through 1999; January's rate indicates a continuation of that trend," Ken Jensen, chief economist for the Utah Department of Workforce Services. "The labor force is growing modestly, and unemployment is staying low."
