HILL AIR FORCE BASE -- Command of the Ogden Air Logistics Center, a major component of Hill Air Force Base, passed to Major Gen. Scott C. Bergren on Monday.

Bergren replaced Major Gen. Rich Roellig, who is retiring. About 300 military members and civilians from Hill attended the change of command ceremony.Hill employs more than 20,000 Utahns, making it the state's largest employer. The air logistics center work force includes nearly 8,500 of these. The center manages $5.9 billion worth of equipment and provides support for the Air Force's F-16, B-2, F-4, C-130, A-10 and KC-135 aircraft.

Gen. George T. Babbitt of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, commander of the Air Force Materiel Command, presided over the ceremony. During the ceremony, the commander's flag was passed from Roellig to Babbitt and then to Bergren.

Bergren is a native of Mineola, N.Y. He entered the Air Force in 1970, serving as an F-4 weapons systems officer in Thailand from October 1971 to October 1972. Following his service in Thailand, he served in 16 other jobs, most recently at Air Force headquarters in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
