Winds that were wilder than expected began around midnight and blew all night. They began to diminish around dawn.During the night a residential fence blew down in the Canyon Rim area, 2700 East and 2200 South.

On the Ogden bench, a gust hit 66 mph. Other impressive wind speeds were clocked at Hill Air Force Base, 61 mph; the University of Utah, 54; Bountiful bench, 51; and Brigham City, 63.

With the end of the inversion, temperatures should rise in Salt Lake City. Highs may reach the low 50s on Friday. On Saturday, a week system offers a chance of showers from Salt Lake County north.
