If it moved this weekend in Salt Lake City, it was robbed. Well, it wasn't quite that bad, but the city was pounded Friday through Sunday with robberies, with everyone from the Fraternal Order of Eagles to motorists getting victimized by armed bandits.

In total, eight robberies were reported to Salt Lake City dispatchers, beginning with a 10:13 a.m. Friday attack in the kitchen of an FOE lodge at 1104 W. 2100 South. In this instance, the unlucky attacker encountered a cook who decided to fight back.

A police report said that when the bandit ordered the kitchen worker to the floor on his knees and told him to face the other way, the victim feared for his life. So, he tackled the bandit.

During the donnybrook, which wound up with both of them fighting in the lobby, a female employee entered the lodge. When the bandit threatened to shoot her, the cook tackled him. With the help of two passers-by, the robber was detained until police arrived.

At about 5:23 p.m., two men robbed a bakery at 51 S. 100 West, and that evening, two women were robbed at gunpoint of their purses while crossing the street at Third Avenue and G Street.

Three robberies within a four-hour time frame were reported on Saturday, including an attack on a lone man who was knocked to the ground and sprayed with spray paint.

Police say the man was approached at 7:50 p.m. by a trio of suspects who wanted to know what he was "hiding."

As the man continued walking down the road at 1206 W. 200 South, the suspects kicked him to the ground, sprayed him with the spray paint and took his wallet.
