Auditions have been scheduled within the next few days for several upcoming stage productions.
TONIGHT (March 14), from 7 to 9 p.m., at Jim's Soupers Deli, 2278 S. Redwood Road, for the Wasatch Theatre Company production of Edgar Lee Masters' classic drama/folk poem, "Spoon River Anthology," being directed by Beth Bruner.Come with a memorized 30- to 60-second monologue from a modern play, plus a second piece of modern poetry.
Individuals with vocal or instrumental talents are invited to audition between 8:30 and 9 p.m. Please come prepared with 16 bars of music (no pianist will be provided; bring your own tape-recorded accompaniment). There are roles for men and women, 16 years of age and up.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY nights, March 15 and 16, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. both nights, for the West Jordan City Arts Council's production of "Bye Bye Birdie." Auditions will be held at the city hall, 8000 S. Redwood Road.
All roles are open for performers 16 and up. Come prepared to sing 16 bars of an upbeat Broadway showtune. An accompanist will be provided (please do not bring any pretaped music). MARCH 21, from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Provo Theatre Company, 105 E. 100 North, Provo, for the company's summer musical, "Hula Hoop Sha-Boop," described by Artistic Director Tim Thelfall as "a sort of 'Forever Plaid' for a mixed cast of two men and two women."
The show will be directed by PTC's associate artistic director, David Tinney.
Come prepared with 16 bars of music from two contrasting pop/rock tunes from the 1950s. No appointment is necessary, and an accompanist will be provided. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, March 22, when there will be additional cold readings from the script and dance movement. All cast and crew members will receive a stipend.

UTAH MUSICAL THEATRE, the Ogden-based summer stock company, is compiling a list of musicians interested in playing in the pit orchestra for this summer's season and for future seasons.
The 2000 season includes "The All Night Strut," a musical revue, plus the mainstage musicals, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" and "1776," along with one nonmusical, Neil Simon's "Lost in Yonkers."
