Chamber releases magazine
The Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce has released its "Life in the Valley" magazine, which includes information on all aspects of living in the Salt Lake area. The glossy, 160-page publication is targeted at new residents and businesses interested in relocating here. About 190,000 copies of the magazine were produced. They cost $10. Small-business seminar set
A small-business workshop will be Wednesday, March 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room N4010 (north building), Salt Lake County Complex, 2001 S. State. Parking is available.
The workshop will focus on basic legal, financial and managerial information needed by people who want to start or expand a small business. It is being given by SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) and is sponsored by the Small Business Administration.

Giant Step Awards dinner set
The Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will honor four small businesses at its Giant Step Awards dinner that will be March 23 at Little America Hotel. The evening begins with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:45 p.m.
The cost is $75 per person or $750 for a table of 10. For more information, call 364-3631.
Small-business owner and former Utah Jazz center Mark Eaton will be the evening's emcee, and Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson will be the guest speaker. Entertainment will be provided by soloist Robbie Britt.
Recognized that night will be: the Ramsey Group, which will receive the Community Services Award; PowerQuest Corp., which will get the Entrepreneurial Success Award; Fyve* Star Inc., which will get the Home-Based Business Success Award; and Van Boerum & Frank Associates, which will receive the Small Business of the Year Award.
The Giant Step Awards are sponsored by Bank One Utah and Petersen Power &Communications Inc. Award sponsors are Equitable Life Insurance Casualty Co., Intermountain Health Care, KPMG Peat Marwick and Workers Compensation Fund.
