LAYTON --Our loving father and husband, John Garr Brough, passed away March 11, 2000 in Clearfield from causes incident to Parkinson's Disease.

He was born January 7, 1921 in Roosevelt, Utah, a son of Jessie and Louella Brough.As a young man, John worked for the railroad in Salt Lake City. He then served in the Army Air Corps and defended his country during World War II. Later, he worked at the Navy Base in Clearfield and Hill Air Force Base. He retired form federal employment as a government inspector.

On June 13,1944, he married Sylvia Leone Lefler in Denver, Colorado. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. They were parents of three sons and two daughters. Although they later separated, they were committed to remain good friends that they might keep their children and grandchildren strong and close as a family.

In 1973, John married Nelda Smith. They lived in Layton. There John helped Nelda rear her son, Mike Smith, and enjoyed associations with other members of Nelda's family. Nelda preceded John in death in 1989.

On August 18, 1990, John married Marjorie Wiscombe in Ogden L.D.S. Temple. They lived in Clearfield where they were members of the Clearfield 2nd Ward. Until Parkinson's Disease advanced, Marj and John enjoyed going to dances, visiting friends and family, and traveling together.

John was a hard worker and a skilled craftsman. He built several homes in the Layton area and helped his children and friends with many construction projects. He liked to ride his horses and farm. One of his greatest joys was to spend time with his family at the Brough family farm in Randelette, Utah, where John had grown up.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and five brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Wiscombe Brough of Clearfield; daughter, Lyndia B. Graham and husband, Jim of Layton; son, John L. Brough, and wife, Pat of Kaysville; son, Thomas S. Brough and his wife, Pauline of Layton; son, Wayne K. Brough and wife, Peggy of Layton; and daughter, Tynna Felt of Kaysville; 24 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Road, where friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment, Lindquist Memorial Park at Layton.
