Ruby Ordella Firkins Dean, age 85, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2000, with her family by her side.
She was born on Jan. 30, 1915 in Rockland, Idaho to Willard Firkins and Clementine Lish Firkins.On Sept. 21, 1937 she married John Sherman Dean in Pocatello, Idaho.
The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Sherman passed away Nov. 12, 1980.
She had lived in Rockland and Rupert, Idaho, and had been a current resident of Salt Lake City.
Ruby was an active member of the LDS Church, where she was a nursery leader and had been a visiting teacher of the Poplar Grove Ward.
She was a wonderful home-maker and mother; and devoted her life to her family.
Ruby is survived by her five sons and one daughter, Kenneth (Geri) Dean, Tennessee; Jay (Jeanine) Dean, Helena, Montana; Brent Dean, Layton; Blair (Jerry) Dean, Willard; Lloyd Dean, Willard; Marlene Dean, Salt Lake City, and Velda (Pat-Harold) Patrick, Magna.
Ruby is also survived by her sister, whom she raised; 27 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, two sisters, Lela Plocher, Rupert, Idaho and Velda Patrick, Magna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Wilbur; one sister and a grandson, Preston Dean.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 31, 2000, 12 noon at Valley View Funeral Home Chapel, 4335 West 4100 South.
Friends may call at a viewing Thursday, March 30th from 6-8 p.m., and one hour prior to the services on March 31st at Valley View Funeral Home.
Interment: Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery.
