Orem Senior Center planning variety of upcoming events
OREM -- The Orem Senior Friendship Center, 50 N. 400 East (east end of City Park), provides a variety of activities for residents throughout the week. Listed below are some of the upcoming events at the center.
April in Paris Community Activity. A dinner/dance will be Saturday, April 8. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. with the dance following from 8 to 11 p.m. Cost is $12.50 per person ages 18 and older. Dress is semi-formal. The menu will include Chicken Cordon Bleu with the trimmings. French pastries will be served during the dance intermission. Dance will have a live band.
Daily Activities for March 30 through April 6. Thursday: quilting, Sit and Stay Fit; Friday: porcelain and ceramics class and at noon a surprise social; Saturday: dance from 8 to 11 p.m.; Monday: beginning computer class, ceramics class; Tuesday: porcelain and ceramics class, Sit and Stay Fit, blood pressure checks, Bingo, woodshop class; Wednesday: ceramics, harmonica band, arts and crafts, watercolor and drawing class.
Volunteers needed to teach. The center needs volunteers to teach various computer classes. Call Charlotte Wilde, program coordinator for information at 229-7110.

Registration for men's soccer starts May 3; the cost: $500
OREM -- The Orem Recreation Department will begin taking registrations for men's summer soccer Monday, April 3.
Register teams at the Orem Fitness Center, 580 W. 165 South. Cost is $500 per team. Games will begin the week of May 13.

Lawmaker to speak April 6 about recent Utah legislation
PROVO -- Rep. Jordan Tanner, R-Provo, will speak to the Utah County Women's legislative council at 9:30 a.m. April 6 at the Women's Council Building, 310 W. 500 North.
Tanner will speak on recent legislation awaiting Gov. Mike Leavitt's signature; she will also address the public-utilities bill.
