Gordon N. Nelson passed from this life to the next on March 27, 2000.
Born in Davenport, ND, February 15, 1913 to Andrew and Olga Nelson. Upon graduation from Business College, he held several clerical positions and even-tually joined the U.S. Army, where he proudly served and retired after 23 years. He worked an addit-ional 15 years for the U.S. Army Reserve.Gordon married the love of his life, Virginia Rose Mayo on July 31, 1942. Their marriage was a model of what a union of two wonder people should be.
Gordon was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He loved his Lord and his life was a reflection of that love. He was the kindest, most honest, most caring man, truly a gentleman's gentleman. He was also a member of the Masonic Order.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia; his parents; and three brothers. He is survived by his children, John B. Nelson (Anita) and Mary Lynn Sloan (Mike); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Raymond (Sharon) and Grover.
The family would like to thank Retirement Inn at Cottonwood Creek for making the time Gordan lived there pleasant and happy.
Funeral services will be at Zion Lutheran Church, Saturday, April 1, 2000 at 1070 Foothill Blvd. at 11 a.m. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund would be preferred.
