Salt Lake City, UT-- Alta Laver Sorenson Johnson, 86, died Sunday, March 5, 2000 in Salt Lake City.
She was born February 19, 1914 in Ovid, Idaho, a daughter of Martin Ezra and IdaJohannah Peterson Sorenson. She married Homer Eldon Johnson April 8, 1942 in Grace, Idaho; marriage later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He died Jan. 20, 1986. She was raised in Grace, Idaho and graduated from USU. she taught high school in Thatcher, Idaho and Firth, Idaho, where she met Homer and later taught elementary school in Soda Springs, Idaho.
Alta was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She provided service through many callings. She loved music and reading. She loved her family and was loved in return. Her influence will continue as she is remembered by family and friends.
Alto is survived by three sons and a daughter, Robert J (Sharon) Johnson, Las Vegas, NV; Gary L. Johnson, Rancho-Cucamonga, CA; Norma K (Nina) Johnson, Grace, ID; Charlene, (R Kent) Nelson, Sandy; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Peterson, June Balls, Alene Pierce, Salt Lake City; Fern Balls, Soda Springs, Idaho. Preceded in death by brother, Arlo Elsworth Sorenson.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday, March 7th,
at the Union Second Ward, 1535 East Creek Road, Salt Lake City, where friends may call 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. prior.
Interment, in Soda Springs, Idaho Fairview Cemetery at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
