Willis I. Hansen, 87, beloved father and husband, passed peacefully into eternity, April 11, 2000.
Born Feb. 20, 1913, Bear River, Utah to Victor N. Hansen and Ella Iverson Hansen. Married his eternal companion, Bessie C. McCarrel, Sept. 14, 1940, Washington, D.C., later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Earlier married Leatha Dixon, but divorced.Willis is best remembered for his creativity and inventiveness, evidenced by his work at the Naval Research Labs, and his artwork, for which he received honors. Spent much of his life in the service of his country, retiring from the U.S. Navy after 22 years and from the MinuteMan Missile Program with another 18 years. Not wanting to sit idle, he then sold real estate and pursued other employment, stopping only to rest a few years ago. He also practiced for that perfect golf game.
Loved and loved by his wife of 60 years: Bessie; and daughters: Carol (Glen) Neidermann, Fullerton, CA, Yvonne (Barton) Carter, Highland, UT; sons: Darrell George (Pat) Hansen, Salt Lake City, UT, Col. David Victor (Barbara) Hansen, M.D., Rexburg, ID; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 14 at 12 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., prior to services. Entombment, Wasatch Lawn Everlasting Garden Mausoleum.
