I have never smoked, but I lived with smokers. I do not believe the habit of smoking to be irrevocably addictive.

I have seen too many people in my own family overcome this habit when they had a good enough reason to do so. This would be people who had been smoking for more than 20 years, maybe three packs a day.It is no secret what smoke, of any kind, can do to our lungs when inhaled.

I am astounded that a jury or judge would award such outrageous monetary rewards to people who are suing the tobacco companies. (This is not an endorsement of the tobacco companies!)

How many of these smokers were tied down and forced to begin smoking or to continue smoking after they were given "more education"? What happened to natural consequences of choice?

How can anyone prove that the person doing the suing would not have kept smoking no matter what he knew about the product? Who can answer that question for me?
