A man of few words who faced his life and death with gentle humor and resolve which spoke so profoundly to his family and friends peacefully passed away at his home
April 12, 2000.He was born September 13, 1926 to Walter Jay and Veda Mae Johnson Treadway in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
J.E. co-founded Kenworth Sales Co. in Salt Lake City in 1945 with his parents and later Trebar Kenworth of Boise. Awarded recognition for busi-ness excellence by Kenworth Truck Co. many times over.
Gene married Marion MaVe Park Treadway in 1948 and is survived by her and their four children: Kacy Treadway of Los Angeles, CA; J. Patrick Treadway of Aliso Viejo, CA; R. Kyle Treadway (Greg Pedroza), and Shawn T. (Sam) Morgan and their children: Tucker, Caitlin, Sydney, Elliott, Piper, Oliver, and Corbin; and loving companion Perla Jorgensen.
He served honorably in the 3502nd Air Corps in World War II, a member of Pi Kappa Alpha at the University of Utah, graduated in 1942 from South High School in Salt Lake City. He was active in UMTA, charter member of Cottonwood Country Club and Hidden Valley Golf Club.
He was an avid golfer whose only hole-in-one earned him $50K tourney prize.

His life will be celebrated at a wake at Hidden Valley Golf Club, 11820 S. Highland Dr., Sandy, UT, Saturday, April 15, 2000 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. A viewing at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Salt Lake, will be Friday, April 14, 2000 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Please join the family at these times and Gene said, "Send flowers!" Private family graveside.
