KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chris Henderson and Miklos Molnar scored goals and Tony Meola saved his shutout by blocking a free kick as the Kansas City Wizards defeated San Jose 2-0 Saturday night.
Henderson scored in the 34th minute for the Wizards (3-0-1) after taking a long crossfield pass from Preki. Earthquakes goalkeeper Joe Cannon got a hand on the shot, but the ball trickled into the net.Molnar scored in the 79th minute. His kick hit off the left goal post, but he got the rebound and kicked it into an empty net.
FIRE 1, FUSION 0: At Chicago, Hristo Stoitchkov's goal in the 48th minute snapped Miami goalkeeper Jeff Cassar's shutout streak at a club-record 310 minutes as the Chicago Fire beat the Fusion.
GALAXY 2, BURN 1: At Pasadena, Calif., Paul Caligiuri and Clint Mathis scored goals as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the Dallas Burn to remain undefeated in Major League Soccer play.
Caligiuri outmaneuvered Dallas midfielder Chad Deering to deflect Mauricio Cienfuegos' free kick past goalkeeper Matt Jordan in the 17th minute.
