The Salt Lake Buzz pitchers shut out the Sacramento Rivercats and John Barnes drove in two runs in a 2-0 win Sunday.
Buzz pitchers Scott Randall, Fred Rath and Gus Gandarillas allowed Sacramento only five hits for the game. Salt Lake starter Randall went six innings scattering four Sacramento hits and striking out four.Rath followed with a two-inning performance and Gandarillas closed out the game in the ninth inning earning his fourth save of the year.
Sacramento starter Terry Burrows pitched the whole game, allowing two runs, four hits and striking out one Buzz batter. But the Rivercats provided no support for Burrows. The Buzz allowed only three Sacramento runners into scoring position all day.
Salt Lake scored their first run in the second inning as right fielder Brian Buchanan led off the inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Barnes. Barnes also homered in the seventh.
