BYU Management Society to honor Ottleys at dinner
The Salt Lake and Utah Valley chapters of the BYU Management Society will honor Jerold and JoAnn Ottley with the 2000 Distinguished Utahns of the Year Award at a May 5 dinner at the Wyndham Hotel.Jerold Ottley retired in December as music director and conductor of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, a post he held since 1975. JoAnn, his wife, is well known for her work in recital, concert and operatic work.
"It is important to recognize those individuals who have made a positive contribution to our community and represent the values of the state we live in," said society president Terry Buckner.

New Riverton Music store in W.V. includes recital hall
Riverton Music on Wednesday opened its new West Valley store at 4650 S. 3740 West. The new store replaces the previous West Valley location on 3500 South and features a 125-seat recital hall and three teaching/rehearsal rooms along with a retail line of pianos, organs, keyboards, band and orchestra instruments.
Home Depot opens stores in Ogden and West Jordan
The Home Depot opened new stores in Ogden and West Jordan Wednesday that will feature tool rental in addition to their retail inventory of construction and home improvement supplies.
The Ogden store is at 984 Wall Avenue. The West Jordan location is at 1538 W. 9000 South.
Washington County Realtors honored for training program
The Washington County Board of Realtors has won the Advance American Award from the American Society of Association Executives. The board was honored for a annual training program it developed for committee heads who serve in a volunteer capacity. The program has been conducted for two years. The Washington County Board of Realtors, with a membership of 475 people, is part of the Utah Association of Realtors.
Mansell & Associates wins a 15-subdivision contract
Real estate brokerage Mansell & Associates has been awarded a one-year contract from D.R. Horton Homes to market 15 residential subdivision developments under construction in Salt Lake, Davis, Tooele, Weber, Wasatch and Utah counties. The subdivisions feature a range from starter to customized homes.
The Texas-based D.R. Horton Homes is the third largest homebuilding firm in the nation.
Timeshare project would add 235 units at The Canyons
American Skiing Co. has contracted to sell timeshare development rights on its land at The Canyons resort near Park City to Westgate Resorts, a subsidiary of Central Florida Investments Inc., for $7.4 million
The 235-unit development is subject to local government approval. The land purchase is expected to close in July.
Free fair-housing seminar planned April 27 at E Center
A free fair housing seminar will be held April 27 at the E Center in West Valley City with one session for the general public and another intended for real estate professionals.
April is recognized as Fair Housing Month by the Utah Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
To mark the event, this seminar is being sponsored by the Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Utah State Antidiscrimination Division. The morning session, from 9 a.m. to noon, is designed for community members affected by the need for affordable housing, and those who have been subjected to possible discrimination in the buying or renting process.
The afternoon session from 1:30-4:30 p.m. will address design and construction requirements included in the Fair Housing Act.
