Gov. Mike Leavitt has appointed former Richfield mayor Paul D. Lyman as a judge to the 6th District Juvenile Court.

Lyman, who most recently worked as a part-time deputy county attorney for Sevier and Wayne counties, served as Richfield mayor from 1994 to 1998. He has also served as a member of the Richfield City Council and Planning Commission."Paul Lyman is fair, hard-working, teachable and decisive," Leavitt said in a news release. "He knows rural Utah and wants to preserve the quality of life for its citizens."

The 6th District serves Garfield, Kane, Piute, Sanpete, Sevier and Wayne Counties. Lyman's appointment is subject to approval by the Utah Senate.
