PROVO -- A former Boy Scout leader accused of sexually abusing one of his Scouts has reached a plea agreement with Utah County prosecutors.
Bruce Quick, 36, Provo, is charged with two counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child, first-degree felonies, for allegedly abusing a child under the age of 14 last fall. Prosecutors and police are not saying where the alleged abuse occurred.Quick was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday in 4th District Court, but the hearing was canceled after defense attorney Randy Spencer told the judge that his client and prosecutors have agreed to settle the case without a trial. Quick pleaded not guilty to the charges in February.
Judge Lynn W. Davis set a change-of-plea hearing for May 8. Spencer declined to comment on terms of the agreement or the degree of offense.
Quick is no longer listed as a registered Scout leader.
