Drew Carey, whose television sitcom takes place in Cleveland, has agreed to deliver the keynote speech at Cleveland State University's commencement on May 7.Iacocca to relinquish his 4 wheels for 2
Lee Iacocca, the brains behind the Ford Mustang and the minivan, will spend Earth Day on Saturday on two wheels.
Iacocca's EV Global Motors Co. styled an electric bicycle -- the E-Bike -- like a mountain bike. It can reach 20 mph and travel up to 20 miles on a single charge from a regular household outlet. Prices start at $995.
"Not only am I going to be out riding an electric bike everywhere, but I'm encouraging my friends and family to do the same," Iacocca said of his Earth Day plans. "Consumers are taking a real interest in clean energy and alternative-fuel vehicles."
Iacocca said E-Bike inquiries have tripled since gas prices nudged $2-a-gallon in recent months.
Will Liberace piano sell for a song?
A player piano custom-built for Liberace is to be auctioned May 13.
The 30-year-old, off-white wooden piano was expected to fetch more than $100,000, said Sloan's Auctions in Washington, D.C.
The player piano, which is also a fully functioning piano, was bought at a 1988 California estate sale by a collector who lives in Coral Springs, Fla. It is one of seven pianos made for Liberace, who died in 1987.
According to the entertainer's sister, this piano was his favorite, said Albert Parker, vice president in Sloan's Miami office.
The famed pianist had the instrument built for entertaining guests at his Las Vegas home. Liberace also recorded his own arrangements on the piano to create 45 player piano rolls, Parker said.
Jagger's expertise to color movie script
Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese are teaming up on a Hollywood script about a pop star.
"It is an insider's look at the music business and the Machiavellian world of hit-making," said a spokeswoman for the Rolling Stones singer's movie company, Jagged Films.
"I imagine he will bring his own experiences to bear, but it will be a work of fiction," she told Reuters on Tuesday.
She said it was far too early to say who would star in the film, which is provisionally titled "The Long Play."
The movie is being billed as a no-holds-barred expose of the pop world, and Jagger, famed for his philandering ways and hedonistic lifestyle, certainly has the inside track on excess.
His production company is also planning a picture about the life of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and his wife, Caitlin.
