BASKETBALL: Utah assistant basketball coach Donny Daniels has been invited back for a second round of meetings with Cal State Fullerton officials."I feel it's positive to be invited back," Daniels told the L.A. Times.

Daniels, an assistant under Rick Majerus for the past 11 years, is a former player and assistant coach at Fullerton. He has been regarded as the top candidate ever since Bob Hawking resigned in late February.

Daniels was interviewed by committee members on campus Saturday, and met separately with university President Milton Gordon. The search committee met Monday and made its report to the administration.

Others interviewed last week were Larry Reynolds, coach at Cal State San Bernardino, Gary Stewart, an assistant at Washington State, and Thomas Trotter, an assistant at New Mexico State.

BASEBALL: A final out-of-state series in BYU's baseball season pits the Cougars against the Falcons at the Air Force Academy this Friday.

The Cougars, 22-20 overall and 10-8 in the Mountain West Conference, are still in second place, but now tied with San Diego State. Air Force, 18-22 and 3-13, owns league victories over BYU, Utah and UNLV.

The first two BYU games at AFA will be broadcast live over KSRR Radio (1400 AM) locally.

TRACK: The Cougars will take on the best talent in the region this weekend, as they host the Robison Invitational, April 20-22 at the BYU Track complex. Admission is free of charge for all three days of competition.

WOMEN'S GOLF: Boise State shot a team score of 316 Tuesday to cinch the win at the Idaho State Bengal Classic. The 54-hole tournament was held at the par 74, 5,820-yard Juniper Hills Country Club in Pocatello.

Montana State also carded a 316 to edge out Idaho State for second place after trailing the Bengals by one stroke after two rounds. Weber State was fourth with a team total of 978.

The Wildcats were paced by junior Tenille Howe, who finished 6th at 237 while teammate Jasmine Stanger Simon finished 10th at 241.

TENNIS: The Weber State men's and women's tennis teams will compete this Thursday through Saturday at the Big Sky Tennis Championship hosted by Idaho State University in Pocatello.
