Nuggets 112, Jazz 92

Game 72: Saturday at Pepsi Center

Playing with as little energy and verve as they did, it's no wonder the jazz lost 112-92 to the 30-43 Denver Nuggets on Saturday at the Pepsi Center.

In short, they had no fizz.

And no matter how much you shake a 2-liter bottle of flat soda, it's still going to pour more like water than the sweet, bubbly stuff should.

Utah showed little intensity at the start, and in the second half, they stilldidn't have any. Three times the Jazz cut Denver's lead to two points in the third quarter, and three times the Nuggets had an answer.

But when Denver began to pull away, Utah had none. The Nuggets went up by 20, the Jazz trimmed it to nine, and before they knew it, it was back up to 22.

Maybe it's time to check the expiration date — and realize the end of the season is near.

RECORDS: Jazz 49-23; Nuggets 30-43

NEXT UP: Utah at L.A. Clippers, Tuesday, 8:30 p.m. at the Staples Center
