C. Kenton Call stated in his April 12 letter, "The Safe to Learn, Safe to Worship petition does not take away guns. In fact, the petition is very narrow in its scope. It only affects concealed-weapon permit holders." How true. It does not apply to deranged juveniles, the criminally insane, homicidal/suicidal maniacs, terrorists, stalkers, rapists, bombers, arsonists, feuding gang members, etc.
Mr. Call continues, "It [the Safe to Learn, Safe to Worship petition] asks people to be responsible." Concealed-carry permit holders are responsible. They must prove this to get a permit. They prove this every day of their lives by not shooting people nor terrorizing, stalking, robbing, raping, threatening, etc. It is good to ask criminals to be responsible, but they rarely are.If you really want to be safe to learn and safe to worship, don't pass laws that publish to irresponsible murderers that students and worshipers are defenseless. Only cowards murder children. Let's keep these cowards wondering and worrying that there may be someone in our churches and schools who is responsible enough to carry a gun to stop a murder rampage.
