SAN JOSE, Calif. — The St. Louis Blues have been through this before.
That makes it easier as they try to rally from a 3-1 deficit to win a first-round playoff series for the second straight year.
Scott Young scored three times as the Blues, who had a team playoff-record five goals in the second period, defeated the San Jose Sharks 6-2 Sunday to even their series at three games apiece. Game 7 is Tuesday night at St. Louis.
The Blues won the last three games to oust the Phoenix Coyotes in the first round of the 1999 playoffs and are drawing on that memory as they try to match the feat now. They won Game 5 at St. Louis on Friday to stay alive.
"We went through this last year, and we know the most important game is Game 5. You win that one, all of a sudden there's pressure on the team that's ahead to win Game 6," Young said. "We had a great experience last year, and we're using it this year."
The only other first-round series not decided is the Eastern Conference matchup between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators. The Leafs, who own a 3-2 lead, play at the Senators tonight.
Philadelphia, New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Colorado and Detroit have already advanced.
Chris Pronger, who added a goal for the Blues on Sunday, said last year's comeback helped keep the Blues optimistic even after they fell behind 3-1 against the Sharks. "I think the guys realized it could be done," he said.
Young, who has five goals in the series, opened the scoring in the first period and added two more goals as the Blues took a 6-0 lead midway through the second.
Jochen Hecht had a goal and three assists for St. Louis, which had three goals on three shots in a 2:40 span of the second period. Tyson Nash also scored for the Blues, and Pierre Turgeon had three assists.
