BLACKFOOT, Idaho (AP) -- A U.S. Army bomb squad from Utah detonated a live, 60-year-old bazooka round found by a crusher operator working in a landfill.

Bingham County Sheriff's Capt. Robert Sobieski said the crusher operator noticed something that looked like a bomb among some debris about noon Wednesday.Sobieski photographed the object, then sent the picture via e-mail to the Army base in Tooele. An explosive demolitions team was dispatched immediately.

While waiting for the bomb squad to arrive, deputies cordoned off several blocks and evacuated three nearby homes. They also directed traffic and children getting out of school away from the area.

When the bomb squad arrived Wednesday evening, it took the object, identified as a live World War II-era bazooka round, to sand dunes outside of Blackfoot.
