June 1999: The Republicans' joint House-Senate dinner raised almost $9 million, a record for a non-election year.

April 1999: Former President George Bush headlined the Republican National Committee's annual black-tie gala, which brought in a then-record $14 million.

May 1996: Democratic National Committee raised $12.6 million.
