Douglas not saying a word on baby's sex
If Michael Douglas knows whether his new baby is going to be a boy or a girl, he's not telling anyone -- not even the child's grandfather."You can't keep a secret," Michael told his father, Kirk Douglas, during a surprise birthday party this week in Los Angeles for Kirk's wife, Anne Douglas.
The elder Douglas conceded his son was right. The veteran actor had even asked his wife of 45 years, "Would you like a surprise party, honey?"
The younger Douglas, 55, and actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, 30, are expecting a child in August.
Buckingham Palace honors 2 ice dancers
Ice dancers Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean were honored by Buckingham Palace on Thursday, two decades after they were first recognized by Queen Elizabeth II.
In 1981, the queen awarded Torvill and Dean with the MBE, or Member of the Order of the British Empire, after they won European and world ice-dancing titles.
Thursday, Prince Charles presented the pair with the added distinction of OBE, or Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
"The prince asked us if there was any new skating talent coming up, and we told him that we are working on it," said Dean, who now coaches other skaters.
Ashley Judd zooming to tie knot with racer
Ashley Judd is racing toward matrimony with Indy driver Dario Franchitti.
Actually, the two have been engaged since December but kept it private, their parents said.
No wedding date has been set.
Judd, the younger sister of country star Wynonna Judd, met Franchitti at a wedding reception in Lexington, Ky., last May. He grew up in Scotland. Her new movie, "Where the Heart Is," opens today.
Purdue coach gives Letterman beauty tips
Purdue University basketball coach Gene Keady, whose comb-over is a frequent target for David Letterman, showed he can be a good sport.
Keady appeared Wednesday on "The Late Show" to read his Top 10 List of "tips for looking your best." He got a handshake and a hug from Letterman.
Hotel mogul buys resort as birthday gift
Steve Wynn isn't done with the casino business just yet.
The mogul has purchased the Desert Inn resort, just down the Strip from three of his famed Las Vegas properties.
"Wynn confirmed this afternoon that he is the purchaser of the Desert Inn as a birthday gift for his wife, whose birthday is tomorrow," a spokesman for Wynn said Thursday.
The spokesman said Wynn and his wife, Elaine, are the only shareholders of the 715-room resort.
