CENTRAL, Hong Kong -- Alice Lai and Shek Kam Fong, both members of the Ngau Tau Kok Ward, Hong Kong Kowloon East Stake, were recently recognized in "Salute to Teachers 1999/2000," organized by the "Recognizing Teachers Program" in Hong Kong.
The main objectives of the program is to boost the social status and image of teachers and to encourage others to respect the profession.Since the program began in 1995, more than 6,000 teachers have been recognized. Both Sister Lai and Sister Fong, who have each worked for more than 10 years as teachers, felt honored and encouraged by the award.
"Teaching students enables us to exercise the principles of pure love of Christ as well as to apply the gospel principles to our lives," they wrote in a statement to the Church News. "We go extra miles and set good examples for others."
