UtahMEN'S TENNIS: Utah took four of the six singles matches and two of the three doubles matches to post a 5-2 win over Brigham Young Wednesday.
This is the second consecutive season that the in-state rivals split their home and home series, with each team winning on the other's home court. BYU slipped past Utah 4-3 on March 3 in Salt Lake City.
WOMEN'S TENNIS: Ute Megan Payne-Dorny continued her assault on ranked opponents beating No. 85 Alida Gallovits 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, but No. 19 Florida State handed the Utah women's tennis team its ninth loss of the season, 7-2. Payne-Dorny defeated Brigham Young's Eline Chiew (No. 58) on Friday.
SOFTBALL: Sophomore Molly McLean and junior Kristin Arbogast are this week's McLeodUSA Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. This is the second player of the week and first pitcher of the week of the season for Utah which becomes the fourth team to sweep the awards. The duo helped the Utes to a 6-0 record during the week.
GYMNASTICS: Morris-Murdock Travel is handling the travel package for Utah fans interested in attending the NCAA Gymnastics Championships in Boise, Idaho, on April 13-15. Call Brenda at Morris-Murdock Travel (267-5819) for airfare and hotel reservations. The package will include lodging at the Courtyard by Marriott. Rooms are also available to Ute fans at the DoubleTree Club Hotel across the street from BSU campus at 208-345-2002.

BASEBALL: SLCC fell to Southern Nevada for the second time in two days, 12-3 with Marcus Burbank suffering the loss. Catcher Chris Shelton went 2-4 and had an RBI in the losing cause.
The Bruins are back in action Friday and Saturday in Orem when they take on Utah Valley in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. SLCC is now 20-13, 11-5 in the SWAC.

TENNIS: Utah State's women's tennis team lost to Idaho State for the second time this season -- 6-3 Wednesday in Logan.
USU's women's tennis team, now 7-9 on the season, will return to the court on April 12, when it will travel to Ogden, Utah to face Weber State at 2 p.m. USU's men's tennis team, now 5-12 on the season will play its last match of the regular season at home against Idaho State on April 11 at3 p.m.
SOFTBALL: Utah State's women's softball team improved to 13-23 on the season with a doubleheader sweep over Southern Utah University at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Field on Tuesday afternoon by final scores of 8-0 and 7-4.

WOMEN'S GOLF: BYU's women's golf team hosted the Utah Dixie Classic and finished sixth behind champion No. 9 Oklahoma State at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George, Utah.
MEN'S GOLF: After climbing to No. 4 in the national rankings, the BYU men's golf team suffered its worst finish of the year, coming in ninth place at the Western Intercollegiate golf tournament in California.
The Cougars finished the three-day tournament at 870, 32 shots behind Fresno State. Manuel Merizalde was the top BYU player, finishing in 17th place at 215.
"This was our season's wake-up call," said BYU coach Bruce Brockbank. "We need to learn from our mistakes and put this tournament behind us."
