Some are asking: "Where is the mainstream" in the GOP? The convention certainly was not the unruly E Center Wrestle-mania crowd the media seems to want to portray. It is true that there were some jeers as certain candidates presented themselves for re-election, but that was the manifest voice of dissatisfaction over what was promised vs. what has been delivered. The powers that be (and their media and pollster toadies) would have everyone obediently vote for the incumbents, regardless of past poor representation and performance.
Many of the delegates are frustrated as they see officials they helped to elect act more like liberal Democrats while ignoring the principles of the Republican Party platform as well as the constitution itself. They want those who hold office to stand for something other than self-interests.There does seem to be a division, a rift between the establishment Elephant Club (Republicans in name only) who chase the perks of power, gain and glory and those folks who see a need to return to constitutional and conservative values. The career politicians and their supporters are quick to label concerned citizens as ultra-conservative extremists, when all they are trying to do is uphold party principles.
Hopefully the public will be able to see past the slick advertising, expensive public-relations campaigns and media bias and judge the candidates more on what they truly represent. Nice smiles and hairpieces can help make for pretty politicians, but what we need now is statesmen of character and principle.
