BasketballROGERS HONORED: Rodney Rogers was the runaway choice for the NBA's Sixth Man Award. The Phoenix Suns' forward received 86 percent of the votes from a panel of sports writers and sportscasters, the second-largest percentage in the 18 years the award has been presented.
Rogers averaged 13.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game.
TWO BRUINS OPT FOR NBA: UCLA sophomores Jerome Moiso and JaRon Rush informed the school that they will enter the NBA draft.
Moiso, a 6-foot-10 swingman, was the Bruins' leading rebounder last season, averaging 7.6 a game, and was second in scoring at 13.0 points.
Rush, a 6-7 forward, was suspended by the NCAA for 24 games for taking improper payments from an AAU coach in St. Louis.
MULLIN PROMOTED: Bernie Mullin, a longtime marketing executive, was appointed to the newly created position of NBA senior vice president for team marketing and business operations by commissioner David Stern.

LEWIS TRIAL: Three previous assault charges against Baltimore Ravens star Ray Lewis cannot be used against him in his upcoming murder trial but evidence taken from his home can, a judge ruled.

RANGERS SIGN SIERRA: The Texas Rangers signed outfielder Ruben Sierra to a minor league contract. Sierra, 34, a four-time All-Star who played for the Rangers from 1986-92, was playing for Cancun in the Mexican League.
