PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The man charged with five deaths in a shooting rampage that targeted minorities plans to mount an insanity defense, according to his lawyer.

Richard Scott Baumhammers, 34, was charged Monday with four killings as well as arson and ethnic intimidation. He pleaded innocent and was jailed without bond.A homicide charge in the fifth killing, that of karate student Garry Lee, was filed Friday in Beaver County.

Baumhammers' lawyer, William Difenderfer, said that he'll try to mount an insanity defense and seek to have Baumhammers moved to a mental hospital.
