George Henry Stover, 92, died April 29, 2000, at his home in Murray of heart failure.
Born October 14, 1907 in Oldenburg, Germany to Bernhard and Johanne Dijesiefken Stover. Married Ethel Graham July 29, 1933 in Salt Lake City. She died Dec. 13, 1993.In his youth, George was a boxer and a gymnast. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1927 to join his brother, Walter, in their family business, Stover Bedding and Mfg. Co. In 1948 he started his own business, Geo. H. Stover Furniture Mfg., and produced custom-made furniture until his retirement in 1985. He will always be remembered as a master craftsman. He loved to dance and play his harmonica.
Survived by his daughter, Joyce (H. Brent) Anderson; two granddaughters, Carol (Doug) Devenish, and Brenda Anderson. Preceded in death by his brother, Walter; and sisters, Johanne and Friede.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 4, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Elysian Gardens, 1075 E. 4580 So. Friends may call at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State Street, Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, 10-10:45 a.m.
