After a courageous 14-year battle with leukemia/lymphoma, Mark Conklin passed away on June 7, 2000 in Salt Lake City.

Our brave and beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend was born Marcella Rae Gardner in La Grande, Oregon, on October 13, 1921. She attended Eastern Oregon State College, Willamette College in Salem, and the University of Oregon in Eugene.Artist, author and interior decorator, as well as an accomplished gardener, Mark was Director and Gallery Manager for the Palo Alto Art Club, and Gallery Manager for the San Luis Obispo Art Club in California. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Utah Symphony Guild, a member of the Assistance League in Salt Lake City, and a member of the Arlington Hills Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, James; her children, K. Lynne Moritz M.D. of St. Louis, Janne Waterbury and Dane Conklin, both of San Carlos, California; her sister, Patricia Case of Eugene, Oregon; her brother, Gail Gardner of Medford, Oregon; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2000, at 12 noon at the Arlington Hills/Federal Heights Ward, 1300 East Fairfax Road. Friends are invited to visit Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South, and one hour prior to services at the ward. Interment in Eugene, Oregon.
