Montreal 11, Toronto 2TORONTO -- Rookie Tony Armas Jr. allowed four hits in seven innings and Vladimir Guerrero homered as Montreal beat Toronto, 11-2.

The Expos ended their three-game losing streak and improved to 5-10 against their Canadian rival.

Armas (2-3) has a 2.29 ERA since being promoted from Triple-A on May 13. The 22-year-old son of former big league outfielder Tony Armas allowed just one run. He struck out three and walked two.

Montreal took a 4-0 lead after four batters. Kelvim Escobar (5-7) walked Wilton Guerrero to start the game, Vidro followed with an RBI double, Rondell White singled home a run and Vladimir Guerrero hit a two-run homer.

ANGELS 10, DIAMONDBACKS 3: At Phoenix, Jarrod Washburn (2-1) pitched seven strong innings and also recorded his first major league hit and RBI, leading Anaheim over Arizona.

Tim Salmon, Garrett Anderson and Benji Gil homered for the Angels. The Diamondbacks have lost six of their last seven.

MARINERS 5, GIANTS 2: At San Francisco, Paul Abbott pitched 7 2/3 strong innings and doubled in his first career big league at-bat, and Rickey Henderson homered for Seattle.

Abbott (3-2) gave up one run and four hits while striking out four and walking one, helping the Mariners win in San Francisco for just the second time in seven games.

MARLINS 5, DEVIL RAYS 1: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Reid Cornelius took a no-hit bid into the seventh inning, and Mike Lowell and Luis Castillo homered for Florida.

Greg Vaughn broke up Cornelius' try, lining an 0-1 pitch to left field for a single leading off the seventh.

TIGERS 10, CARDINALS 1: At Detroit, Damion Easley, Brad Ausmus and Dean Palmer homered to back Brian Moehler (3-3), as Detroit beat St. Louis.

Mark McGwire, who has one homer since May 24, went 2-for-4 and stole his first base in nearly two years in the fourth inning. J.D. Drew homered for the Cardinals.

WHITE SOX 4, CUBS 3: At Chicago, Kerry Wood walked seven and gave up four runs the Chicago White Sox, helped by a timely pickoff, beat the Chicago Cubs for their sixth straight victory.

Magglio Ordonez hit a two-run homer, and Carlos Lee and Herbert Perry drove in the other runs for the White Sox.

YANKEES 13, METS 5: At New York, Jorge Posada greeted Pat Mahomes with a tiebreaking three-run homer in a five-run fifth inning, and the New York Yankees twice came from behind to beat the New York Mets and even this year's Subway Series.

A day after routing the two-time World Series champs 12-2 in their first meeting this season, the Mets led 3-2 and 5-3 before the Yankees took over.

INDIANS 6, REDS 5: At Cleveland, Travis Fryman's second homer of the game triggered Cleveland's three-homer barrage in the sixth inning, and the Indians sent the Cincinnati Reds to their fifth straight loss.

Fryman's leadoff homer in sixth against Steve Parris (2-9) was followed by one from Russell Branyan as the Indians tied it at 5. Kenny Lofton homered with two outs as Cleveland won for the seventh time in eight games.

BRAVES 6, RED SOX 0: At Atlanta, Terry Mulholland pitched five shutout innings despite a pulled hamstring, and the Atlanta Braves made it two in a row over the Boston Red Sox.

The Braves broke open the game with four runs in the fourth, including Andres Galarraga's 17th homer and a two-run triple by Walt Weiss.

ORIOLES 11, PHILLIES 4: At Baltimore, Albert Belle homered and drove in four runs and Sidney Ponson pitched eight strong innings as the Baltimore Orioles beat Curt Schilling and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Cal Ripken homered and drove in three runs for the Orioles, who won for only the second time in 10 games. Ripken went 3-for-4 to boost his batting average to .261.

BREWERS 5, TWINS 3: At Minneapolis, Jimmy Haynes won his fourth straight road start and Marquis Grissom homered as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Minnesota Twins to snap a five-game losing streak.

Matthew LeCroy and Cristian Guzman homered for the Twins, who had won three straight games.

ROCKIES 12, RANGERS 6: At Denver, Larry Walker hit a three-run homer for his first home run since coming off the disabled list as the Colorado Rockies won their seventh straight home game.

Terry Shumpert went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Colorado reliever Gabe White hit his first career home run in his 25th career at-bat as the Rockies (33-25) moved eight games over .500 for the first time since May 12, 1997.

ROYALS 2, PIRATES 1 (12) : At Kansas City, Mo., Mac Suzuki came within one out of his first career shutout before Mike Sweeney won it for Kansas City with an RBI single in the 12th.

Damon hit an infield single off Jose Silva (4-2) to lead off the 12th for Kansas City. After a sacrifice bunt by Luis Ordaz, Sweeney singled to center.

DODGERS 7, ATHLETICS 2: At Los Angeles, Eric Karros tied the Los Angeles career home run record and Shawn Green also homered.

Kevin Brown (5-2) recorded his third complete game of the season with a seven-hitter, including Jason Giambi's RBI single in the sixth inning and Eric Chavez's solo homer in the seventh.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

PADRES 13, ASTROS 3: At San Diego, Bret Boone hit a grand slam and tied his career high with six RBIs, and Ruben Rivera also homered as the San Diego Padres snapped their five-game losing streak.
