MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Chad Allen homered and scored three runs Sunday as the Salt Lake City Buzz defeated the Memphis Redbirds 6-3 in the Pacific Coast League.

Allen's two-run home run gave Salt Lake a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning.

Memphis scored in the fifth inning when Ernie Young's single drove in Stubby Clapp.

But Salt Lake came back with three runs in the seventh inning. Mario Valdez hit a solo home run, and Jeff Smith's single drove in two runs.

Memphis rallied in its half of the seventh when Young again scored Clapp, this time on a sacrifice fly. Eduardo Perez singled and scored on a throwing error by Salt Lake pitcher Todd Rizzo.

Salt City added a run in the ninth inning on a Casey Blake RBI triple.

Bryan Wolff (4-3) gave one earned run and struck out three Memphis hitters to earn the win. Brent Stenz picked up his third save of the year.

Fred Rath (2-4) took the loss.
