Cancer survivors and their families, friends and health-care providers will inaugurate National Cancer Survivors Week with a Bonneville Shoreline Trail Cancer Survivors Walk on Saturday.
They will also weave Utah's first Wellness Pole at "Common Threads: Weaving Wellness," which are free programs sponsored by Cancer Wellness House for anyone whose life is affected by cancer.Participants are invited to begin the day by joining Grandma Gump in walking the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. The walk begins at the mouth of City Creek Canyon at 7:30 a.m. and ends at the Bonneville Shoreline Trail access on Sunnyside Avenue across from Hogle Zoo. Those not wanting to walk the entire trail can meet at the Sunnyside Avenue access at 11:30 a.m. and walk about 50 yards to the This Is the Place Heritage Park Amphitheater, where the "Weaving" celebration and advocacy event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
